A Tennessee police officer conducting a safety drill with teachers accidentally fired his weapon in the school this week.
No students were present during the mishap because the unidentified Rockwood police officer was at the school as part of an in-service day for teachers.
The incident occurred at Rockwood Middle School as the officer was showing teachers what a gunshot would sound like in the school as part of a series of demonstrations. Teachers were reportedly behind locked classroom doors with the Rockwood police chief when the officer fired his weapon.

Roane County Schools Superintendent Leah Watkins and Rockwood Police Chief Danny Wright acknowledged the mistake, saying no live ammunition was supposed to be used, but stressed that no one was in any danger.
