BERKELEY, Calif. — Occupy Wall Street protesters have been moving to campuses around the nation as city officials attempt to disband gatherings due to health and public safety concerns. Last week, police officers arrested 40 protesters on the UC Berkeley campus and university officials are not allowing encampments to be set up on campus.
Protesters in California have vowed to occupy dozens of other campuses in the coming weeks, The New York Times reports. Last week, protesters set up tents at Harvard.
Members of Occupy Cal rebuilt their camp on the Berkeley campus. They have called for a general strike and camp-out at all 10 UC campuses, 23 state universities and 112 community college campuses beginning Tuesday.
