NEW YORK — An average of 11 students per day were ticketed or arrested by the NYPD this past school year, according to data released by the department Tuesday.
Black and Latino students made up 95% of the 882 total arrests, the New York Daily News reports. Seventy-one percent of the city’s student population is comprised of Blacks and Latinos.
The NYPD data also revealed that 1,666 tickets were issued during the school year.
