PENN. & TEXAS — Two men were arrested on August 12 for assaulting police officers and hospital security personnel at two different hospitals.
Wayne Nelson Miers was taken into custody and transported to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for blood-alcohol testing after he was stopped by police for swerving his car, the Citizens Voice reports. Once at the hospital, Miers claimed he was assaulted, sexually assaulted and choked while being arrested, and asked to be checked by medical personnel.
While waiting for an X-ray, Miers became agitated and attacked a police officer. He then kicked and spat on a hospital security officer and a nurse.
Vincent Paul Tran was arrested after he allegedly assaulted police officers and a hospital security officer at the Midland Memorial Hospital emergency room, the Midland Reporter-Telegram reports. Police were called to the hospital after Tran, a patient, became aggressive and then threatened to kill a security officer.
Tran kicked the security officer while he was being escorted out of the hospital and called him derogatory names, police said.
