A nurse with Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center was found unconscious in a hospital bathroom while he was supposed to be on duty Nov. 25.
James Hoffman, 51, was discovered by hospital security wearing lipstick and a tourniquet with a syringe in his arm. He has been charged with possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, the Daily News reports.
Police said Hoffman had morphine, ketamine and lorazepam in the bathroom with him, and those drugs were later discovered in his work area. A “large amount” of the drugs were missing from the hospital, according to hospital security.
Hospital security also reported that Hoffman may have been responsible for the mistreatment of a disorderly patient who was found unresponsive with ketamine in her room which was not prescribed to her.
