TROY, Ohio—A nurse at the Upper Valley Medical Center was stabbed several times with an ink pen by a patient.
The nurse, whose name has not been released, was attending to Charles Stewart, 49, around 9 p.m., June 30, when the patient allegedly jumped from the bed and started stabbing her, reports Dayton Daily News. She received treatment for the puncture wounds on her shoulders, neck, chin and upper lip.
Both the victim and Stewart were taken to the hospital’s emergency department, where the suspect was watched by a security officer. Stewart reportedly threw a blanket over the officer’s head, punched and bit him.
Stewart has been charged with felonious assault and misdemeanor assault. His bail has been set for $125,000.
