New Mother Blames Hospital for Alleged Attack

Published: July 22, 2010

MILWAUKEE—A mother who had just given birth was allegedly attacked in her Aurora Sinai Hospital room.

Kimball Lewis, 22, claims she specifically requested no visitors after giving birth to her son, reports WISN.com. However, Shava Wade, 20, was able to enter the patient’s room and allegedly attack Lewis while the newborn lay in a secure seat next to the bed.

Wade, who was charged with disorderly conduct and trespassing, was able to bypass security by using a fake name and requesting to see someone in a different room, according to police. The alleged attack was started because both women share children with the same father.

The victim suffered from a bloody nose and a swollen jaw. The victim was able to call for a nurse’s help during the attack; however, she believes hospital officials should have done a better job of protecting her, especially since she warned them that trouble was coming.
