A school resource officer’s use of force was deemed justified by the Omaha Police Department following an internal investigation.
Omaha Police School Resource Officer Nick Caniglia was exonerated for his role in breaking up a fight at Millard South High School in December, according to ketv.com.
Caniglia used force to detain and arrest a 17-year-old student who was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The student later admitted to hitting Caniglia in the side of the head as the officer attempted to break up the fight.

Omaha police talked to several witnesses and reviewed cell phone footage of the incident to complete their investigation. Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer, senior command personnel and two use-of-force experts within the department conducted the investigation.
Caniglia, who had been on leave since the incident, returned to work at the high school on Jan. 8. A video of the fight can be seen below.
