A custodian at a Long Island middle school was arrested September 10 after allegedly making threats to copy the school shooting in Columbine.
Brian Hulsen, 40, was charged with making a terroristic threat after reportedly saying he was planning a school shooting in the faculty room of James Vernon Middle School, according to newyork.cbslocal.com.
Police are unsure why Hulsen made the alleged threat September 4. “He was not in an altercation with anybody at that point. He just blurted it out,” Nassau County Police Sgt. Richard Lebrun says.
Police arrested Hulsen at his home, where they found an AR 15 rifle, a plastic rifle and a shotgun. Hulsen was later freed on $5,000 bail.
The school district released a statement saying Hulsen’s master key has been confiscated and he’s been suspended.
