JACKSON, N.J. — Jackson School District (JSD) plans to use $13.4 million state grant for construction projects that will help increase school security at 10 schools.
JSD will use $1.2 million of the funds for security upgrades that include converting all outside locks to an electronic key fob system, as well as fund an emergency call line between the district’s schools and local law enforcement agencies. Additionally, the JSD plans to add more security cameras around the campuses, Asbury Park Press reports.
The remainder of the funds will be used to install air conditioning at Jackson Memorial High School, upgrading the school’s public address system and purchasing new generators for emergencies.
