ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Police have charged a mother with removing her three-month-old daughter from Lehigh Valley Hospital against doctor’s orders.
April Saul maintains that she requested that her child, who needed special treatment for a heart defect, be transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in October. However, Saul claims hospital officials refused even though that didn’t have the specialist she required.
Hospital representatives say that the baby was medically unstable and that Saul and her fiancé acted unreasonably. The child was eventually transferred and is scheduled for heart surgery this week.
