More Than 100 Arrested in Multi-Campus Protest

GATINEAU, Ottawa — One hundred and forty-eight people were arrested for criminal mischief following a demonstration that traveled between Université du Québec en Outaouais campuses. Police used pepper spray on student demonstrators during the protest.

Students and three busloads of protestors, totaling about 500 people, started the day by marching to the main campus of the Université du Québec en Outaouais, The Ottawa Citizen reports. Fifty to 75 protestors pushed officers out of the way and broke a locked down to force their way inside. Three protestors were arrested.

The protest moved to Collège Nouvelles Frontières, where two men were pepper sprayed and others scuffled with police.
