NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. – North Kansas City Public Schools will begin running background checks on every school visitor in the fall.
District officials plan to spend $150,000 for a Web-based system that will scan the photo ID for every parent, visitor and volunteer who comes to a district school, Fox4KC.com reports.
The district is also looking at software to help school administrators scan for custody disputes, restraining orders and trespassing orders.
Some parents believe the extra layer of security is excessive; however, others have supported the new measure, stating that it would give parents a “fantastic peace of mind.”
