Minot State U. to Use $1M Grant to Enhance School Security

MINOT, N.D. — The North Dakota Board of University and School Lands will give Minot State University a $1 million grant to enhance campus security contingent on the approval by both the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education and the budget section committee of the state Legislature.

The school plans to use the grant to install a blue light system that will consist of 25 blue lights with phones that will allow individuals to contact campus security. If the State Board of Higher Education and the budget section give their approval, MSU officials expect the blue light system will be installed by the fall 2014 semester, Minot Daily News reports.

As more funds become available, MSU plans to enhance lighting on campus and install high definition cameras in campus parking lots.
