Manchester Responds to Changing Security Needs in School District
MANCHESTER, Conn. – In response to the changing needs within their school district, Manchester Connecticut Board of Education has elected to expand upon their IP Video security measures as part of their ongoing commitment to safeguarding education.
The progressive step-by-step project was originally implemented in order to provide a platform that would grow with technology.
To maximize the safety of students, faculty, teachers and visitors, Manchester Board of Education installed IP Video Corporation’s Enterprise-Class Surveillance Solution given its reliability, scalability and no-hassle adoption into daily routine. The district currently has 74 cameras deployed across its 42-mile fiber network. The Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) runs on a gigabit backbone and connects all Board of Education and Town buildings. Local Law Enforcement Officials have received training on the system and now have access to all cameras.
“IP Video’s system is one of the most robust programs I have worked with. Everyone in our districts is pleased with how it has worked and what it has done,” states Michael Pennington, Information Systems Director at Manchester Public Schools. “I can only imagine the many times it has saved us from crime, vandalism and so forth. The system has paid for itself and beyond in the years we have had it and I am sure it will continue to save us money.”
