Man Attacked in His Sleep at D.C. Hospital

The attack reportedly occurred without provocation although police are still investigating.

A woman was arrested after police say she stabbed a sleeping man in a D.C. hospital’s waiting room during a random attack Feb. 9.

Janet Latoya Daniels was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after the stabbing at Providence Hospital, which left a man with a deep wound on the left side of his head, according to the Washington Post.

Daniels was reportedly at the hospital to be treated for a drug problem when she went into the bathroom and emerged with a knife around 2:15 a.m. Daniels then attacked the victim, missing with her first strike before hitting the man.

Hospital security officers stopped the attack and detained Daniels until police arrived.

The victim said he was attacked in his sleep and doesn’t know Daniels. He is being treated at Providence Hospital.
