A 33-year-old man faces 10 1/2 to 23 years in prison after pleading no contest to shooting and wounding a Spectrum Hospital security guard in a parking structure in Grand Rapids, Mich., in June.
By entering a plea, Horace Demarco Collins was able to avoid a minimum sentence of 25 years, reports the Grand Rapids Press and WOOD-TV.
Collins will be sentenced Nov. 24. He is also facing two years for using a fireman during a felony. Police say Collins was breaking into a parked vehicle when he was spotted by the hospital security guard who was treated and released at the hospital.
