Published: August 28, 2008

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – A man known for causing public disturbances was arrested Aug. 25 for threatening to kill security officers and a police officer in the waiting room at the Hospital of Central Connecticut.

David Kowalewski, 52, was charged with breach of peace and threatening in connection with his outbursts. Police records quoted Kowalewski screaming that he had killed before, using military techniques. He threatened to kill anyone who interfered with him.

The suspect continued to cause a disturbance after five security officers restrained him after he tried to assault hospital staff members. Kowalewski was taken to the hospital by his son, who was trying to find help to stop his father’s drinking.

Bail was set at $150,000. Kowalewski was ordered to stay away from the hospital unless he has a medical emergency. Police reports indicate that the suspect always threatens staff when he is brought into the hospital.
