WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Canada — A 45-year-old man died in Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre’s (WHSC) emergency room after waiting for 34 hours.
The patient, Brian Sinclair, whose legs were amputated, was reportedly homeless and a frequent visitor of the hospital’s emergency room. He arrived at the hospital on Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. He was finally attended to on Sept. 21 at 1 a.m. Shortly after, Sinclair was pronounced dead.
One concerned patient in the same waiting area approached nurses and security officers about Sinclair; however, he was told that they were too busy to check on him.
The hospital is currently undergoing a critical incident review.
