BANGOR, Maine — After a laborious three-year process, Kennebec, Oxford and Penobscot counties have implemented a database in which police can gain access to floor plans and blueprints for schools during emergencies, such as active shooter incidents, fires and floods.
The database, which cost $250,000 in federal funds, will also include contact information for all school personnel, including administrators, teachers and custodians, Bangor Daily News reports. The appropriations money also funded ballistic vets and surveillance cameras for Special Response Teams in Penobscot and Kennebec counties. Schools will also use the funds to host training exercises.
