SHREVEPORT, La. – A security officer, who fell asleep while guarding an inmate at Louisiana State University (LSU) Hospital, was fired after the inmate escaped Sept. 22 in the early morning.
According to reports, 29-year-old Sean Sibley was arrested for burglary and was taken to Shreveport City Jail. After complaining of chest pains, the police brought Sibley to LSU Hospital. They hired a security officer from North Louisiana Security to transport the inmate to the hospital for overnight treatment.
However, the officer fell asleep during his shift, and Sibley was able to walk away, wearing only a hospital gown.
Police were able to capture the suspect around noon, nearly 10 hours after his escape. He complained of chest pains again when he was captured, and was taken to LSU Hospital. This time, Shreveport law enforcement guarded the inmate.
