LEHIGH, Pa. – Lehigh University will spend $150,000 to install surveillance cameras in off-campus neighborhoods where students reside.
The university will install 10 cameras throughout neighborhoods near the eastern and western borders of the South Side campus.
Both the Bethlehem and Lehigh police departments will monitor the surveillance footage, LehighValleyLive.com reports.
After the new cameras are installed, Lehigh will have roughly 70 cameras both on- and off-campus.

Additionally, the university launched a new app, created by EmergenSee, which allows students to connect with campus police via their smart phones. The app connects students directly to police dispatchers through video, audio and text.
