JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — The Jefferson Parish School Board will spend more than $7 million to outfit all schools with a single entrance for visitors, as well as fences, and interior and exterior security cameras.
Security measures currently range from a desk attendant to in-school security guards and metal detectors. However, with the new plan, the district also plans to install locks on classroom doors and buzzer systems on all campuses, NOLA.com reports.
The district will fund the project from its “rainy day” fund, which has more than $40 million.
