Kroll Fraud Solutions has released a guide called “Your Organization’s Data Theft Hot Spots Revealed.” The guide identifies six primary data theft hot spots and offers suggestions on how to protect them.
Laptop computers, employee desks and workspaces, unlocked filing cabinets, E-mails and faxes, as well as mailrooms and the trash are all potential sites of data theft, according to Kroll. Performing periodic audits, encrypting information and securing vulnerable cabinets and mailrooms can help to prevent data theft.
The guide also urges companies to speak seriously with employees about data security to increase awareness.
