Judge Bans 14-Year-Old From All District Schools

Published: May 13, 2013

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A judge has barred an eighth grader from attending any public schools in the county after learning that she has a history of videotaped assaults on other students.

The decision was prompted after the student lured Aria Jewett into a fight near her middle school and fractured Jewett’s skull, reports CBS News. The assault was videotaped by onlookers, and the alleged attacker was arrested for aggravated assault.

Not only was the suspect suspended from the school she was attending; she was also barred from all other public schools in Duval County.

District officials, however, say they are required to allow the suspect to attend public school somewhere in the district. Last week, an appeals court agreed with the district and reversed the ban.
