ISU Police Officer Rescues Student From Burning Car

TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State University police officer Chris Heleine pulled student Mark McKinley from his burning vehicle just seconds before it was fully engulfed.

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon in a parking lot, reports TribStar.com. McKinley, 30, crashed into another vehicle after he experienced a medical emergency. Heleine, 28, was first on the scene and noticed that McKinley was slouched over the center console and unresponsive. The officer used a fire extinguisher to put down the flames so he could reach the driver. He then pulled McKinley to safety.

Ten seconds later, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.
