Iowa Man Charged with Assault After Attacking Hospital Employees

Austin Streets was charged with assault after attacking a nursing assistant and security guard.

IOWA -Austin Streets was charged with assault on persons in certain occupations on Tuesday after punching a nursing assistant and security guard at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics last month.

Streets, 24, was at the UIHC Emergency department on Sept. 6 when he struck a nursing assistant in the head two to three times in the head, reports the Iowa City Press-Citizen. Police said the nursing assistant was not injured from the attack.

Streets then became engaged in a fight with a security guard, punching the guard’s face three times, then head-butting the guard’s face twice. Police said the guard sustained minor injuries after the altercation, including red marks on his face, and a bleeding scrape on his hand.

Streets also caused $400 in damage in the UIHC Emergency Department after punching a hole through a wall.
