VANCOUVER, Wash. — An inmate of the Clark County Jail who was taken to the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center after an apparent suicide attempt died August 23 after he threw himself from the seventh-floor window of his hospital room.
Suka K. Suka used a small table to break the window in his room and then jumped to his death, The Columbian reports. A sheriff’s custody officer who was guarding the room tried unsuccessfully to stop Suka.
Suka was in the hospital’s critical care unit, where he was being treated for injuries he suffered from a fall at the jail on August 21 after a possible suicide attempt. He had been arrested on August 16 on suspicion of second-degree domestic-violence assault and fourth-degree domestic-violence assault.
