Infant Abduction Prompts Hospitals to Boost Security

Published: June 29, 2009

The Cottage Health System is increasing security at its Santa Ynez, Santa Barbara and Goleta hospitals after a baby was kidnapped from the Santa Barbara hospital in February.

The hospitals plan to implement an identification system for new patients and visitors within the next few weeks. All hospital occupants will be required to wear a badge, according to Santa Barbara Independent.

The Cottage Hospitals have routinely increased its security over the past two years and have installed new cameras, increased staff, and reduced unlocked and unmonitored doors.
