Plainfield Police Plan to Keep Rifles at High Schools

PLAINFIELD, Ill. — Local police want to keep rifles in the offices of high school police in case of an active shooter event.

The department has specifically requested to keep long guns such as AR15s in locked gun safes at the schools, NBC 5 Chicago reports. A school board committee will be evaluating the request next month.

Plainfield is home to four high schools.
