Symposium Covers Nurse Security, Emergency Management & More

Region 5 of the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) and the California Emergency Nurses Association (CalENA) announce that the dates for the 4th Annual IAHSS California Regional Symposium will be July 26 in Southern California and July 27 in Northern California.

The conference will cover:

  • A Healthcare Security Directors’ perspective on workplace violence
  • Nursing and Security: Gap evaluation and partnership needs
  • Managing security during overwhelming natural disasters such as Katrina, the Sri Lanka Tsunami and the Haiti Earthquake
  • A keynote presentation on managing healthcare workers’ incidents of threats and stalking, including the basic principles of stalker management and personal protection for targeted victims
  • How to save lives without risking your own during your management of difficult patients
  • Review of the recently released “Shots Fired for Healthcare” training video
  • Networking with your fellow administration, nursing and healthcare safety and security peers

On Thursday, July 26, the Southern California event will take place at the Tamkin Auditorium, the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, 757 Westwood Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90095. On Friday, July 27, the Northern California event will take place at the Li Ka Shing Center, Stanford University School of Medicine, 291 Campus Drive West, Stanford, CA 94305.
