Ky. Hospital Cuts Off Night Visits, Beefs Up ER Security

SOMERSET, Ky. – Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital implemented a new visitation policy on Dec. 6 based on safety concerns and patient feedback. In most cases, the hospital will no longer allow visitors between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The hospital has also increased security by employing armed deputies to patrol the emergency room during certain hours. Officials say the emergency room is often the epicenter of hospital violence, WKYT reports. 

Children 12 and under will no longer be allowed in patient rooms and only two visitors per bedside will be admitted at a time. Officials say that these changes will create a better environment for patients.
