Employee Charged with Stealing IDs of Disabled Patients

MIAMI — A Veterans Administration Medical Center employee has been charged with selling the identities of disabled patients who received services at the hospital.

Tarakesha Kendrick was arraigned Dec. 12 on charges of aggravated identity theft and unlawfully selling the personal information of at least 22 military veterans, the Miami Herald reports. Kendrick was arrested after an undercover agent arranged to meet with her and buy identities.

Similar identity-theft schemes have occurred at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital, Jewish Community Services and other Florida healthcare facilities.
