Published: July 19, 2012

EXETER, N.H. — A former medical technician at Exeter Hospital was arrested Thursday for allegedly infecting at least 30 people at the hospital with hepatitis C.

David Matthew Kwiatkowski faces more than 20 years in prison if convicted of causing the infections while he worked in the hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab, CNN reports. He is also accused of stealing Fentanyl, a powerful anesthetic.

Coworkers of Kwiatkowski said he exhibited suspicious behavior, such as leave the lab during procedures and sweating profusely.

Authorities says he has worked in at least six states since 2007, reports the Associated Press.
