A synthetic drug called 2C-I that causes intense visual and aural hallucinations has been popping up around the country.
The drug’s effects have been called a a combination of MDMA and LSD, only far more potent, Shine reports. Half of those exposed to 2C-I in 2011 were teenagers, according to the American Association of Poison Control.
2C-I is untraceable on standard drug tests, increasing its popularity with high school and college students. This makes it more of a challenge for doctors to treat victims of overdose.
