UPDATE: Investigators believe there never was a gun or active shooter at URI yesterday, reports WPRI.com. Authorities did, however, recover a Nerf gun, although they aren’t sure if it is related to the incident.
UPDATE: The URI Kingston campus has been cleared and is back to normal operation. Classes are cancelled for today. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
The University of Rhode Island’s (URI) Kingston campus was locked down at noon today in response to reports that a gunman was inside URI’s Chafee Hall. Students, faculty and staff are being encouraged to take shelter.
Emergency alerts have been sent via phone calls, text and e-mails, reports WPRI.com. No shots have been fired and no injuries have been reported, claims Botson.com. Classes have been cancelled.
