NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — A Central Connecticut State University student is accused of pretending to be the target of anti-gay messages.
Lexi Pennell, 19, was arrested after a hidden camera outside of her dorm room — placed there by police — caught Pennell sliding a threatening note under her own door, CBS News reports. When confronted, Pennell admitted to writing the notes.
A large crowd of students had held a rally in support of Pennell in March before it was discovered the threats were fake. Pennell now claims that she wrote them being she felt she was losing her girlfriend and friends.
