ATLANTA – The state of Georgia is developing a state climate index, which will rate schools on safety.
The index will grade schools from one star to five stars to determine the safety climate. Schools who receive one or two stars will have to work on their safety procedures, 11 Alive reported.
The reports will include the number of reported weapons and fights at a school, as well as surveys of parents, teachers and students about their schools.
The state will release school ratings in December.
