MOULTRIE, Ga. — Colquitt Regional Medical Center is now outfitting every baby born in the hospital with an electronic ankle accessory to prevent child abductions.
The ankle band puts out an alert if a baby gets too close to one of the infant unit’s doors, WALB News reports. Visitors and staff have to be buzzed in and out of the unit, said Debra Hayes, director of the hospital’s maternal infant unit.
No infant kidnappings have occurred at the hospital.
