UNIONDALE, Pa.—The father of a Penn State Altoona student who took his own life on Friday believes hazing caused his son’s suicide.
Rich Braham’s son, Marquise, was a freshman at the school. While on spring break, Marquise threw himself off of a Uniondale hotel roof.
A friend of Marquise told News 12 that the 18-year-old discussed with him the graphic hazing activities and alcohol abuse that were required of pledges to Phi Sigma Kappa. The fraternity brothers allegedly gave Marquise the option to either sniff a line of coke or be violated with a sex toy.
Penn State Altoona has suspended the local chapter of the fraternity, and law enforcement is investigating the matter.
