FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — The Framingham State University Board of Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to arm the school’s police.
The campus police recently attained state accreditation, The MetroWest Daily News reports. Police Chief Brad Medeiros lobbied to arm officers at two forums for students and community members last month, arguing that officers will be better able to save lives in the event of a campus shooting if they are carrying service weapons.
Many board members support an extensive review of the implementation of guns next May, and others said they would like the subject to be discussed at all trustee meetings over the next year.
