Two former Penn State University administrators pled guilty to reduced charges Monday following accusations that they covered up the child sexual abuse scandal involving Jerry Sandusky.
Former PSU athletic director Tim Curley and former PSU vice president Gary Schultz pled guilty to misdemeanor child endangerment and will face sentencing at an unspecified later date, reports the Associated Press.
The charges stem from the failure of the two administrators, along with former president Graham Spanier, to inform police when a graduate assistant informed them in 2001 that he witnessed Sandusky abusing a boy in a team shower on campus. Spanier is also facing charges.
The charges against Curley and Schultz were agreed to after prosecutors dropped three felony charges of child endangerment and conspiracy.
The lesser child endangerment charges could lead to probation or a jail sentence of several months.
Former PSU head football coach Joe Paterno was also fired for his role in the scandal. Paterno passed away in 2012 and was never charged with a crime.
Sandusky was convicted in 2012 of molesting 10 boys and is serving a prison sentence of 30 to 60 years.
