BOSTON, Mass. — In the early hours of Saturday, a fire alarm activation led authorities to the Goldenson Building at Harvard Medical School, where an explosion occurred. The incident, now under investigation, is considered intentional, according to initial assessments by the Boston Fire Department Arson Unit.
Explosion at Harvard Medical School: What Happened?
Just before 3 a.m., an officer from the Harvard University Police Department responded to the alarm at the medical school’s premises on Longwood Avenue, reports WCVB. Upon arrival, the officer witnessed two individuals fleeing the scene. Despite efforts to intercept them, the officer could neither identify nor detain the suspects.

Investigations revealed that the explosion took place on the fourth floor of the building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Goldenson Biomedical Research Building, which houses science research departments, including the Department of Neurobiology, was thoroughly searched by the Boston Police Department for additional explosive devices. None were found, confirming the safety of the premises for continued operations.
Suspects Fled the Scene: Surveillance Images Released
In an effort to gather more information, police released grainy surveillance images depicting the two suspects with their faces obscured, reports CBS News.
