TACOMA, Wash. — A 79-year-old man alleges that he was manhandled, dragged into a room and shackled to a bed by security officers at St. Joseph Hospital.
Ron Meredith claims he lay in the room unattended for seven hours before cleaning staff discovered him, the Toronto Sun reports. Meredith had been taken to the hospital on Sept. 13 to receive treatment for an angina attack.
Meredith reportedly went to the nurses’ station on Saturday and was waiting to be released from the hospital when the security officers accused him of trying to escape. Meredith said the men put a diaper on him and left him in the room, where he did not receive any food or medication.
