District Proposes Ban on Cross Dressing

SUFFOLK, Va. — The Suffolk Board of Education has proposed a dress code that would ban students from wearing clothing that is “not in keeping with a student’s gender.”

According to the district, the dress code is designed to protect students from harassment, Reuters reports. The board began considering the ban after three of the district’s high schools received complaints that some male students were dressing like girls.

The American Civil Liberties Union is calling the proposed dress code ban unconstitutionally vague and sexually discriminatory.
