DHS Revises Student Visa Verification Orders

WASHINGTON—The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has ordered U.S. border agents to now verify that international students who enter the United States must have a valid student visa.

An internal memorandum was obtained Friday by the Associated Press announcing the change.

The order is in response to the discovery that a foreign student who is accused of helping the Boston Marathon bombing suspect hide evidence was allowed to return to the United States in January without a valid visa.
