As a result of the growing number of calls to suicide crisis centers due to economic woes, the federal government will provide more than $1 million to up to 20 crisis centers, according to MSNBC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) said that in July, more than 57,000 phone calls were made to suicide crisis centers. Of those, about a quarter were linked to economic distress.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-TALK.
