Couple Found Dead in Hospital after Suspected Murder Suicide

A patient at Central Texas Medical Center and her husband were found dead of gunshot wounds in their hospital room.

An elderly couple was found dead from gunshot wounds in a Texas hospital room on June 9.

San Marcos police are calling the incident, which occurred at Central Texas Medical Center, a murder-suicide, according to khou.com. The two victims were 85 and 87 years old, although police have not yet revealed their identities.

One of the victims was a patient at the hospital facing a serious medical condition, and police say they believe the husband shot his wife before turning the gun on himself. The two were discovered by their daughter.

Although investigators determined the man posed no threat to the rest of the hospital, police were called at 7:49 a.m.

The hospital employs security guards but is reviewing its security measures. Currently, the hospital has no metal detectors or procedures to search for guns at its entrances, although there are signs that inform visitors guns aren’t allowed on the premises.
