RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — The Connecticut Board of Education unanimously approved a plan to spend $851,113 for access control, security cameras and mass notification at Ridgefield Public Schools.
The district plans to spend $405,294 to install interior and exterior doors. With a price tag of $325,906, the district will install surveillance cameras at all elementary school playgrounds, all main entrances, doors and parking lots, The Ridgefield Press reports.
The board approved using $151,000 from the 2012-2013 operating budget for a mass notification system, which will cut the total cost of capital items to $731,200. The MNS will feature security beacons throughout all schools that will trigger lights and speakers to announce different security situations, according to The Ridgefield Press.
