Combat Data Security Risks By Setting Social Media Guidelines

Kroll Fraud Solutions released part one of its social media series intended to combat data security risks in the workplace. The article urges businesses to provide employees with a clear set of guidelines for the use of social media that protect sensitive data and avoid reputational damage.

According to Social Media in the Workplace, it is important to tie your business’s social media guidelines back to existing business conduct and ethics guidelines. The consequences of non-compliance with social media policies should also be clearly outlined, as well as specifics on what can and cannot be divulged on social media Websites.

Kroll Fraud Solutions also suggests that businesses develop a “social media incident” response plan that includes crisis communications to control any negative effects of an information leak.
